This recipe may sound strange just from the title, but it's very good. My dad says it came from a grilling cookbook.
Mix:
1.5 lbs ground beef
1 egg
1 tsp Worcester sauce
1 tsp instant minced onion
3/4 tsp salt
1/2 tsp ground sage
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tsp mustard (like for hot dogs)
1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
other ingredients:
broccoli
mushrooms
ketchup
garlic powder
brown sugar
wax paper
bbq sauce
Sprinkle on some onion and garlic powder in a large mixing bowl.
Spread the meat mixture out onto a large piece of wax paper in a rectangle as
wide as your meat loaf pan, and about 15 inches front-to-back. Meat should be
about three quarters of an inch thick. Thin, but thick enough to hold
together while you roll it up.
20inch wax paper, 15x9 meat spread
Coat the top with BBQ sauce (I like Kraft hickory smoke) and sprinkle on some
brown sugar - just a light coating leaving about a 1.5-inch border around the
edges.
Spread out one package of thawed broccoli flowerets (10oz) and some sliced
mushrooms (canned or fresh, 4oz), again leaving about a 1.5-inch border around
the edges.
Use the wax paper to start rolling from front to back. Roll it up tight and seal
the ends so the filling isn't exposed. (remove wax paper during rolling)
Bake 375 in a conventional oven for 60-70 minutes, till it's well browned.
Carefully drain any accumulated fatty liquid whilst keeping the meatloaf in the
pan. (use oven mitts and spatula, pour into jar)
Make a topping with a quarter cup of catsup, 1 tsp mustard, and at least 1 Tbsp
of browned sugar.
Spread topping on cooked meatloaf, and cook another 15 minutes.
