Cade--April 2004

04-03-2004:  To the Rancho
We went to Rancho San Antonio County Park in the afternoon and early evening.  At first it was a bit rough; Leslie didn't like the sun, and we ended up going back home to pick up hats (whoops!), but once it started to get a little darker, and we found more shade, it was quite pleasant.  See for yourself!

04-06-2004:  Cade and Leslie
Here's a picture of Cade lying on Leslie.

04-07-2004:  Cade in reverse
Cade's beginning to do more travel backwards than forwards. Although his first crude foray into the realm dominated by quadrupeds resulted in forward motion, now it seems that he will eventually lean back (so that his knees bend and his behind goes up into the air a bit and, crucially, his stomach lifts off) but as he moves his legs, they slide out from under him. Probably he isn't coordinating with his hands, which have more traction, so he slides backwards. Once he figures that out, we'll have to watch out!

04-13-2004:  Cade and his bottle
He's getting to where he can hold his bottle briefly now.

04-15-2004:  Cade in the hat, and a walk in the park
Cade looked so cute with this hat on!  (We just couldn't resist putting it on him for a minute)
We also went for a walk in the park later, and got lots of pictures.

04-17-2004:  Cade the avid gamer
Will Cade learn to play pong?  Find out here and here!

04-19-2004:  It's been six months
Cade visited the doctor today.  He got two shots (the third is in short supply).  Here were the stats:
Weight: 18 lbs 8 oz
Height: 27 1/2"
Head: 17 1/2"

In other news, he's been getting out more babble-like syllables, and, after not liking carrot, he proceeded to be apathetic toward broccoli.  He sometimes reaches for objects while sitting, and can remain pretty stable sitting, if he isn't tired.  Leslie just started going to two non-milk meals a day:  cereal early on, and other food later in the day.

04-22-2004:  Sipping
We started Cade with his sip cup yesterday. He seems to be enjoying it. And just now, he got to where he was on his stomach, crawling backwards, but when he ran up against me, he started kicking off forwards a bit. I even saw him rock back on his knees a bit, lifting up his stomach. He's getting closer!

04-23-2004:  Babysitting
Our friends Jon and Chan babysat Cade while we went out to eat.  Apparently he was very good for them...this is the first time he's been babysat since we left him with my parents for a single day over Thanksgiving!
