Fanime 2002 summary:
Leslie was up all night Thursday night finishing costumes. Poor thing. At least she had some help from friends (and me!). Add to that the two weeks or so of very little sleep each night (usually 4-5 hours) and the sympathy factor should go way up. I mean, she completed five costumes for this event with only a few nights' help from the rest of us.
The dealer's room was all right, though I wasn't too interested in being there after I found the Transformers I wanted. Plus, with the Zechs mask on, my vision was terrible.
Saturday, I got up at 6:30 and made it to wait in line for masquerade tickets by about 7:10. I meant to get up at 5 even and have a little longer to get up, but 4-5 hours of sleep two nights in a row took a toll so that second night was 4.5 instead of 3. I think lots of us were disappointed that only 1 ticket was awarded per person, but we could at least go through line a second (and third) time to pick up enough for friends. Luckily, the line was not quite long enough to keep us from getting enough tickets. Also luckily, the tickets were not assigned seats, so I didn't need a block of consecutive numbers.
Unfortunately, lack of sleep kept me from being attentive while I watched Betterman later in the day, though it seems like a good series.
The masquerade itself was decent, some very funny stuff, some great costumes, and a terrific host. There were some intermissions with some newer AMVs plus some we saw at least year's Anime Expo.
On Sunday, I watched a bit of Rahxephon. I've heard good comparisons to Evangelion, though I didn't really like Evangelion in the end. This series looks better to me. Saw a bit of Noir as well. That interested us a lot as well.
Overall, a good con. People seemed to like my Zechs costume, especially with Leslie's Noin, and the Vampire Hunter D outfit was a smash hit (weeks and weeks of work, I'm telling you).
Friday--Before Fanime Getting ready, and hamming it up.
Saturday--The Mirror Wall So the outside of the convention center sports a very shiny wall and I like mirrors, so I got pictures while waiting in line for the masquerade.
