We were up on the first balcony (lucky to get in at all?) so our view was not all that great. However, it was easier to see than the pictures may seem to indicate. And the big screen helped too.
The worst part was that the judges were incompetent. We all complained about this afterward. Two glaring oversights:
Giving "Best presentation" to the WORST presentation, just because
they had good costumes. In our mind, they should separate the good
costumes from the good presentations.
Giving the industry award for "best Slayers or Utena" to someone else
because "there weren't any". There was a good Lina Inverse and a
VERY amusing character from Utena (eating a peanut butter cup).
Even worse, they printed up a newsletter the next day which misrepresented some more facts about the Masquerade. We thought the judges were much more knowledgeable fans than us too...
